The Development Story of UCHU-GIN

The development of UCHU-GIN began as a project to re-examine the company Unichemy from various perspectives and create a new product. This led to the birth of the Japanese craft gin, "UCHU-GIN."

Commitment to Simplicity

One of the main focuses in the development of UCHU-GIN was simplicity. This was aimed at achieving a pure and refined taste. However, expressing the concept of space was a challenging aspect. The project team carefully discussed and finalized the direction of the flavor and visual design.

Distinctive Ingredients

One of the most distinctive features of UCHU-GIN is the use of "ASTRONAUTS WATER," which was consumed by astronauts, in the final distillation process. This water is natural soft water from Tanegashima, once drunk by astronauts, making it very smooth and drinkable. Using this water gives UCHU-GIN a subtle sweetness.

Selection of Botanicals

The flavor of UCHU-GIN is simple yet impressive. Only spirits flavored with juniper berries can be called the gin. UCHU-GIN emphasizes juniper berries, and the recipe is carefully crafted to highlight this botanical. Although only juniper berries and coriander are used, the gin surprisingly has a refreshing citrus aroma.

Visual Design

Additionally, the label is printed with luminescence ink, allowing it to absorb light and glow in the suddenly dark. This design element helps convey the feeling of space visually.

In this way, UCHU-GIN is a product that combines simplicity with the experience of both taste and visual elements to evoke the feeling of space.
